Funding provided by New Jersey Education Association's PRIDE in Public Schools Grant
This year's event is sponsored by the Atlantic County Council of Education Associations. ACCEA is the professional association of teachers and other school employees. Their contributions of the race promote the importance of physical fitness and correlation between health bodies and healthy minds!
Participants receive a custom t-shirt and finisher medal and a chance to raise funds for the benefiting charitable organization, CASA. CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates, or CASA for Children recruits, trains and supports citizen-volunteers who advocate for children in the community and in the courtroom.
A child with a CASA volunteer is:
- Twice as likely to be adopted, than to linger in long-term foster care
- Half as likely to re-enter the foster care system
- More likely to have a plan for finding a permanent home, especially children of color
- More likely to do better in school
In Atlantic and Cape May Counties 350 children have a CASA volunteer. A trusted adult who will stick with them until their case is resolved. But 650 children are still waiting.
CASA of Atlantic and Cape May Counties has promised to match a volunteer with every waiting child by 2017. To do that, they need your help. Your support and participation in the Kids Fit Final Mile sponsored by Atlantic County Council of Education Associations can change a child’s life.
Families and children can registers as individuals or as a part of a participating school team.
All proceeds benefit CASA for Children. Learn more at AtlanticCapeCASA.org
